In August 2026, at the Saratoga NY-Bred Yearling Sale, Wadhams Thoroughbred Racing intends to acquire a promising New York-bred yearling with the goal of developing the horse into a competitive two-year-old for the NYRA circuit.
Our selection process is guided by a disciplined set of criteria focused on:
Proven sire lines known for producing sound, consistent runners
Strong female families with black-type performers and black-type-producing depth
Correct physical conformation conducive to long-term racing performance
Pedigree influences associated with stamina, durability, and competitiveness
Eligibility for New York-bred restricted races and incentive programs that can enhance earning potential
Our objective is to identify a horse whose pedigree and physical attributes reflect both class and durability, improving the likelihood of a successful and sustainable racing career while maximizing opportunities within favorable racing conditions and incentive structures.
By purchasing a yearling, we participate in the horse's development from an early stage, including breaking, training, and foundational education. This approach allows us to shape the horse's progression while potentially avoiding the significant premiums often associated with purchasing horses at two-year-old sales after they have already demonstrated athletic ability.
