Our Claiming Strategy:

Our claiming strategy focuses on lightly raced 3- and 4-year-old horses—preferably New York-breds—that are still early in their development and approaching their competitive peak. Many of these horses were previously identified at auction but become more attractive acquisitions after a few starts have revealed valuable information about their soundness, running style, and overall ability.

Claiming races can also create unique opportunities. Horses are sometimes entered for a claiming tag not because of declining form, but as part of a placement strategy to maximize purse earnings. Additionally, some larger operations move on quickly from horses that do not appear to be graded-stakes prospects, creating opportunities to acquire talented runners at reasonable valuations.

For this reason, we look beyond the claiming price alone. Successful claiming requires understanding class placement, stable objectives, and a horse's long-term potential. Our goal is to identify sound, competitive racehorses that can outperform their acquisition cost and continue progressing through the condition ladder.
