OBS March 2027— 2-Year-Old’s in Training Sale

In March 2027, at the OBS March Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale, Wadhams Thoroughbred Racing intends to acquire a promising two-year-old with the goal of developing the horse into a competitive racehorse for the NYRA circuit.

Unlike yearling sales, the OBS March Sale gives us the opportunity to evaluate horses after they have begun their racing education and demonstrated their athletic ability during the under-tack show.

Our selection process is guided by a disciplined set of criteria focused on:

• Athleticism, stride efficiency, and overall movement during the under-tack show

• Physical conformation and veterinary evaluation with an emphasis on soundness

• Proven sire lines capable of producing competitive and durable racehorses

• Strong female families with black-type performers and producing depth

• Pedigree influences that complement the horse's demonstrated speed and athletic ability

• A realistic path to competitive racing opportunities on the NYRA circuit

Our objective is not simply to purchase the fastest horse at the under-tack show. We aim to identify a sound, athletic prospect with the pedigree, physical development, and temperament to become a productive racehorse.

Purchasing at a two-year-old sale allows us to evaluate considerably more information than is available when buying a yearling. We can assess how the horse has developed physically, observe it under tack at speed, review its training progression, and conduct extensive veterinary evaluation before making a purchase decision.

The goal is simple:

Buy a sound, talented two-year-old. Bring the horse to New York. Develop it for the NYRA circuit.
